Why you started TBD
My Martial Arts training started back in 1983, at the age of 17. Though training in many of the different arts over the years ranging from Judo to Kick Boxing, I maintained a core style of Shotokan Karate and currently hold a 4th Dan (Yondan) grade.
As my experience grew I came to realize that there are a lot of excellent teachers and clubs about, the problem is deciding what you want to get out of the Martial Arts you practice. For me, I wanted to further my knowledge and experience with a no nonsense art that concentrated on Self Defense on a practical basis.
I wanted this to complement my karate training by increasing my skill in areas such as grappling and weapons defense and I now find that I enjoy my training more than ever.
What you most like about TBD/club:
1) The wide range of knowledge and experience that is compressed into a relatively small (but fast growing) association.
2) The practical hands on way we train.
3) The techniques we practice and overall style, which I guess goes back to what attracted me to the club in the first place.
Aims/Ambitions:
I completed my initial aim of attaining a Black Belt in TBD Goshinkwai on SAT 20th November 2010. and now look forward to keep training, try to keep healthy and pass on what I have learnt to those who are interested.
