My training in Martial Arts has been long and varied, including Kung Fu, Karate and Kickboxing to name a few.
My training in Martial Arts has been long and varied, including Kung Fu, Karate and Kickboxing to name a few.
During 1999 I was introduced to a Goshinkwai Self Defence class at Ebbw Vale, which immediately satisfied my need for a complete REAL Self-Defence System, as it incorporated sound Atemi (Striking) techniques, various low, powerful kicks, strong grappling, fast footwork and body movement amongst others. Within 4 years of training, approx 2 sessions per week, with some personal tuition, I attained Black Belt, SHODAN.
In 2003 I inherited my current club from my Instructor at Ebbw Vale, which enabled me to include some new drills etc that I had attained from my previous experience. I keep my training quite varied, in that I still practice the self Defence techniques and principles taught to me, but also train using pads, adapt ground fighting, sparring and core fitness training to help strengthen my overall defence system. Within the last couple of years I have also been called upon to provide seminars for various professional outfits, including:
Bodyguards, Security Staff, Psychiatric Staff, Various Military Personnel, SO19,Self-Defence groups, Martial Art Groups, Special Forces and Personal tuition.
I am also involved within the Total Womens Defence programme, providing practical women’s self defence training to groups within the South Wales area.
In 2006, I was one of several Instructors who amalgamated to form the Total Body Defence (TBD) Organisation, of which I am a committee member and Treasurer
