RYAN OWEN
My current training started in November 2000 after taking my son to join a Goshinkwai training session. I was overwhelmed by how it related to genuine situations. My interest was immediate. The advantage of previous judo training (brown belt) enabled me to train at a higher level. I have a good knowledge of correct and safe break falling. Each session I attend I become more aware of how to control aggression, improve my self-confidence/concentration and how to tackle any kind of scenario, from minor scuffles to life threatening situations.
I have yet to use this form of self-defence in a real-life situation but feel confident enough to deal with it should the need arise.
My son is trained in Goshinkwai to the level of green belt. It has developed his self-discipline and built confidence.
My ambition was to become a Dan Grade and teaches students the art of Goshinkwai, with great support and instruction I have achieved my Dan Grade.
