Total Body Defence Self Defence is holding its FIRST FREE “Have a Go Day” at Risca leisure centre this summer to showcase the system, students and instructors!
Date: Saturday 24th August 2013
Time: 10:00 – 1:00pm (In the main hall)
Venue: Risca Leisure Centre, Pontymason Lane, NP11 6YY
The informal and relaxed day is designed for anyone with an interest in finding out more about TBD and is for anyone aged 7 to 70!
Active participation is encouraged, so put on your trackie and trainers and HAVE A GO! 3 Hours of FREE Training!!
Come and meet all our senior instructors and many of TBD’s students who will only be too pleased to help you !
Attendees with have chance to see various demonstrations of what’s on offer and try each section, including:

I am delighted to announce that we now have 2 Chiroprac’s who want to work in conjunction with TBD!
The first is Mr Chris Gubbings who is attending Risca Dojo next Tuesday 7th May 2013 7:30 – 9:30pm to give a short talk on his background and treatment he can offer. Chris will be available during the 2hr training session for individuals to pop over and have a quick chat.
Note: This service is extended to friends and family members also, so please pass the invite on as appropriate.
Following this I will arrange for our 2nd Chiroprac, Miss Rachael Lewis (Paul Hughes’ girlfriend) to come along for a similar talk.
Here’s Chris’ profile:
Born in the Middle East and having grown up in Wales, Chris has spent time working for a globally based medical company and travelling throughout Australasia before returning to the UK to gain a Masters in Chiropractic. Chris has also obtained a first class BSc degree in Applied Sports Science where he received the academic award of excellence during his studies. Chris is currently working in private practice in a busy clinic in Cardiff.
Chris’s assessments aim to identify limitations and imbalances within the body that predispose us to musculoskeletal injury. Rehabilitation and or treatment is aimed at returning function to the body and resolving faulty movements patterns often the root cause of Neuromusculoskeletal conditions and exercise related injuries.
Chris uses a variety of techniques to treat a wide range of Neuromusculoskeletal conditions such as diversified chiropractic adjusting techniques, soft tissue and neuromuscular release, instrument assisted soft tissue therapy and acupuncture. Through a detailed case history, orthopaedic & neurological examination, the focus of care is on resolving the root cause of a condition as well as screening for predisposing factors for future injury.
Having come from a sports science background he has a keen interested in sport and exercise related injuries and rehabilitation, and is currently preparing to undertake the International Chiropractic Sports Science Diploma (ICSSD).
Chris has had a keen interest in martial arts since an early age and has trained and fought in a number of different disciplines from karate, kickboxing, Muay Thai and more recently MMA. He has spent time training in Thailand in some of the best gyms open to foreigners, and now treats a number of professional and semi-professional MMA fighters.
Chris is registered with the General Chiropractic Council and is a member of the British Chiropractic Association.
